Very Special Guest and Former "Rosie the Riveter" Delphine Klaput to Attend Haven Hill Festival Talk Saturday

A Special Guest at the Haven Hill Festival!

Please join us at Goose Meadow Pavilion on Saturday, September 26, at 1:00 p.m. at Highland State Recreation Area for a special Haven Hill Festival presentation, “Edsel Ford and Ford Aviation: From the Tin Goose to Willow Run.” FOHRA volunteer Jay Fitzgerald will explore Ford Motor Company’s important role in American aviation and wartime aircraft production, including the enormous Willow Run and Baltimore bomber assembly plants.

Making this presentation especially meaningful will be the presence of Delphine Klaput, a centenarian and former “Rosie the Riveter”, who will be attending with her family and sharing some of her wonderful firsthand experiences with the public. Delphine will also be signing autographed gift cards for festival visitors. Please come meet this remarkable woman, hear her stories, and help us celebrate the generation whose dedication and hard work helped make our history possible!

The Friends of Highland Recreation Area (FOHRA) volunteer organization was established in 2007, and is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit organization operating under lease agreement with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Within one of the most picturesque, fascinating, and historically significant state parks in southeast lower Michigan, our goal is to combine the former Haven Hill estate history with Highland Recreation Area’s existing amenities, wilderness, and recreation.
