Great Spring Event at Highland State Recreation Area! The “Redbud Reveal” is Saturday, May 9!

The Friends of Highland Recreation Area are proud to announce the annual “Redbud Reveal”, a season-opening outdoor event at Highland State Recreation Area in Highland/White Lake, Michigan.

Enjoy Michigan’s wonderful spring season in the outdoors at beautiful Highland State Recreation Area and learn of the Park’s great history and the amazing story of Edsel and Eleanor Ford’s former Haven Hill estate.

  • Walk, hike, and bike the Cedar Creek Trail.

  • Enjoy the trails of the Haven Hill National Natural Landmark. Horseback riders are welcome too!

  • Visit Edsel and Eleanor Ford’s Historic Gatehouse, Carriage House, Lodge site on Haven Hill, and the Edsel Ford Barn.

  • The Gatehouse Visitor Center Will be Open to the Public with Docent Volunteers On-Site.

  • Haven Hill Gatehouse Fun! 11am-12:30pm Kids Paper Airplane Event, 11am-1pm Drop-In Kids Crafting!

The Friends of Highland Recreation Area (FOHRA) volunteer organization was established in 2007, and is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit organization operating under lease agreement with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Within one of the most picturesque, fascinating, and historically significant state parks in southeast lower Michigan, our goal is to combine the former Haven Hill estate history with Highland Recreation Area’s existing amenities, wilderness, and recreation.
