Redbuds Are "Revealing" Their Beautiful Blooms at Highland Recreation Area! Event Saturday

Our beautiful Michigan redbuds at Highland State Recreation Area are “revealing” their gorgeous blooms all over the park, and especially in the Haven Hill section which is ready for your visit during the annual Redbud Reveal event this coming Saturday, May 10th.

Enjoy spring in the outdoors at Highland State Recreation Area Saturday from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Get outside and enjoy the trails and historic sites during what is expected to be a great weather day. Learn some terrific park history, see the Carriage House and former Lodge on the Hill, and visit the inside of the Edsel Ford Band. See attached flyer for even more information.

Big News: Edsel and Eleanor Ford’s historic former Haven Hill Gatehouse will be open to the public for your enjoyment all day during the event. See the great interior and exterior renovations, the huge Haven Hill Lodge model, and tour inside with Friends of Highland Recreation Area volunteer docents!

Outside visit the commemorative brick circle on the property and a dedication and season-opening talk at 1:00 pm.

The Friends of Highland Recreation Area (FOHRA) volunteer organization was established in 2007, and is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit organization operating under lease agreement with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Within one of the most picturesque, fascinating, and historically significant state parks in southeast lower Michigan, our goal is to combine the former Haven Hill estate history with Highland Recreation Area’s existing amenities, wilderness, and recreation.
